I absolutely LOVE this theme for a winter-time first birthday party! Cold weather, crafting, decorating and being a mommy are a handful of my favorites things. So, with this party I absolutely had a blast creating and planning for my baby girl's big day! We celebrated with family, friends and the jolly big man, himself--Santa Claus! Yummy food, cute decor, s'mores by the fire and wonderful friends all helped make this a fun, wonderful party!
This post contains A LOT of pictures so I will just include a short description of the items shown.
Welcome sign on the front door
Gift table at the entrance. I have several old windows that I decided to use to replace the pictures we normally have on our walls. I decorated them with snowflake decals and Christmas ornaments hung from fishing line.
Ceramic snowman pail filled with giant candy canes.
Lighted tree with 12 pictures of my
daughter-- one from each month of
her first year.

Super-simple lollipop tree using a styrofoam floral cone.
Dessert Bar
Some of the items included on the dessert bar were rock candy, chocolate covered and candy covered pretzel sticks, Sixlets, "Icy Peppermint Patties", chocolate covered small pretzels, "Polar Bear Kisses" (Hershey Kisses), peppermint bark, "Snow Covered Donuts" (powdered mini donuts) and old fashion candy sticks.
The guest list was on the long side so I decided to have plenty of red velvet cupcakes on-hand in case there was a cake shortage. I was lucky enough to have a couple of great friends make and frost the cupcakes for me :) I used a wooden arctic play set for the cupcake stand. I made baby seals, polar bears and penguins using polymer clay as a playful addition to the cupcake stand. I love the way it turned out!

Chili bar
I was very fortunate to have a few friends make several types of delicious chili
for the chili bar! Different cheeses, salsa, crackers, jalapeƱos and fritos were some of
the toppings available to choose from. YUM!
Hot Chocolate Bar
What's a winter birthday party without a hot chocolate bar?? Toppings were aplenty
with mini marshmallows, red hots, shaved white chocolate, crushed peppermints,
soft peppermint sticks, crushed Andes chocolate mints, chocolate sprinkles and
a variety of flavored creams.
I found these tin buckets in the dollar section at Target. They worked perfectly
for holding eating utensils.
Pink lemonade, sodas and water bottles were available at the drink table.
I designed personalized labels for the water bottles.
The gift table in the foyer was turned into the party favor table so guests could grab their goodies on the way out at the end of the party. One of the favors were snow globes I made using baby food jars. Each globe had either a polar bear or a penguin inside.
We wrapped up the evening by drinking hot cocoa and roasting marshmallows over the firepit. Such a fun night!
What a wonderful first birthday party for our little girl!!
